A week of new starts and more movies…
Here goes this week’s 5BF

1: Reading
I started reading ‘Winners Take All’ by Anand, an American-Indian writer, and so far I am thoroughly moved by it. First of all, this book wasn’t on my radar. I found it on a bookstall, purchased it, and started reading it. This spontaneity makes the experience of reading it that much more interesting. I have had this drive to help people change their lives, and this book directs you to do it the right way. It is a rebellion against the corrupt system, and all those engulfed by the system. So it very much warns you not to become a puppet of the system, as many great figures have become, but rather change the system and everything else will correct itself.

2: Movie Recommendations:
I watched quite a few movies this past week because I was having the midterm holidays. So I would like to rank them from best to good – and if you find time, check them out.
I: Parasite: arguably the best movie of 2019. Period. (A true criticism of the class divide)
II: Good Boys: funny, warm, and adventurous. (The last 20 minutes of this movie spells all the truth about the lives of all of us.
III: Toy Story 4: the need to let go, and the eager invitation to join in – a must watch.
IV: John Wick 3: full of masterful action – action in this movie is the absolute best out there.

3: Movies, Midterms, and Preparation for Midterms:
I believe, and do so myself, that the preparation for your midterms, quizzes, assignments, and finals should start from the very first day of the semester. Pay full attention to the lectures in your classes, make no absentees, research about the subject if you do not understand it well, and take interest in the course – and then all of the above, finals, quizzes, mids etc, becomes easy and doable without any stress. I boldly reject the idea of studying just before exams. You can revise, yes, but you cannot study in that time. Better start earliest, and chill in the holidays by watching great movies, or read, or go out.

4: Belly-fat burning!
So yeah, I struggle with belly-fat too. And it is about time I do something about it. So here is my long-term, determined and researched plan to burn the fat in my belly.
I: NO SUGAR, VERY LESS OIL, NO BREAD (naan)
II: Eat half of what you ate before. (If you ate one plate, eat half from now on).
III: Drink more water, add more chilly-spices in your diet, and eat fruits or dry-fruits when hungry.
IV: Keep doing it and wait. Nothing major is going to happen in a week (I am a witness). At least two months before even the very earliest results might show up. And exercise – it helps even more: Run, walk, abdomen exercise etc. You will feel hungry, but you will also come to feel healthier.

5: Quote:
“Personal problems are political problems. There are no solutions at this time. There is only collective action for collective solution.” – Anand Giridharadas
Imagine there is a wall and on the left side of the wall, there are a lot of people suffering, and you are one of them. Let’s call this side A. On the right side of the wall, there are the few elites, the system-makers; they are rich, in command and very intelligent and clever. Let’s call this side B. You work hard and you want to do something for the people on side A – you want to change their lives. You work very hard and finally, you are given a ladder to climb the wall and move to side B. Once on the side B, you then frequently visit side A and help them financially or intellectually. You may even get to give the ladder to couple of other hardworking, aspiring folks from side A to join side B. Work done, right? No! Break the goddamn wall! That wall is the corrupt system, and the system-makers on the other side is engulfing you – making you one of them.
