This was a long January, wasn't it?
Hello, Febuarary! And welcome to 5BF, here's a list of things I explored during the last week..
1: My review of Jean Rhys's Good morning, Midnight
I adored this little book. Lonely, melancholic, funny, satisfyingly bitter, and highly intimate... here's my review of it.
2: Articles I explored...
By Eric Ravenscraft:
It's a very short, but helpful little article to introduce us to some of the basic social skills for building new friendships and leaving a better impact on people. A small effort for bringing back the good manners.
By fs.blog:
Borrowing an idea from the book, "The Inner Game of Tennis" by Gallwey, this blog emphasizes on the power of our inner (mental) efforts, especially the that of the subconscious. Because we work too hard at something, we completely block our natural way of learning and achieving things.. explore further at:
3: Movies I watched...
The Lighthouse (2019) - a remote, difficult and nostalgically appealing movie. A must-see for true movie fans/nerds.
Little Women (2019) - although I couldn't finish the novel, I did however enjoyed enormously this movie. Loveliest! Now, I am excited to pick the book again, and read.
4: 101 East series by Al-Jazeera at YouTube..
This series of short documentaries highlights some of the going-on affairs on the east side of the world. I watched the films on: India: The Child Sex Highway And China's New Silk Road. It is really a good way of, especially for the people living in the East like myself, to become aware of what is going on around them.
5: Quote of the week..
“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.” - Bishop Desmond Tutu
